Markus Grassl lecture on SU Workshop on Quantum Information and Computation 2024

Markus Grassl, a researcher from the International Centre for Theory of Quantum Technologies of the University of Gdańsk, presented a plenary talk during the SU Workshop on Quantum Information and Computation held at Sabanci University in Turkey.

The academic workshop was organized on August 14, 2024.  The event covered a range of topics and perspectives within the scope of Quantum Information and Computation Theory and brought together leading experts from various fields to discuss the past, present, and future of quantum technology. Attended by students, faculty members, and industry professionals, the workshop provided a platform for gaining in-depth insights into the complexities and potential of quantum computing.

Originally a computer scientist, Grassl explained the importance of discrete mathematical methods in understanding quantum information theory. His presentation focused on the challenges of quantum error correction and preserving quantum integrity. Grassl encouraged participants to engage with the complexities of quantum mechanics and emphasized the importance of curiosity and questioning in advancing the field.

Zafer Gedik, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Sabancı University, Ferruh Özbudak, another faculty member from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Máté Farkas from the Department of Mathematics and Quantum Technologies at York University, and Göktuğ Karpat from the Department of Physics at İzmir University of Economics also gave their presentations in the same scientific block.

The workshop concluded with a call to the new generation of scientists to embrace the challenges and opportunities offered by quantum technology. The discussions highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the need for continued innovation to unlock the full potential of quantum mechanics.
