First Quantum Information Theory Doctoral School in Poland
We are thrilled to announce that the University of Gdańsk is set to open the first Quantum Information Theory Doctoral School in Poland! The recruitment process will begin this September, providing a unique opportunity for students interested in quantum foundations, quantum technologies, quantum information theory, and quantum optics.
In 2018, the University of Gdańsk established the International Centre for Theory of Quantum Technologies (ICTQT), which was funded under the International Research Agendas program by the Foundation for Polish Science. The centre’s activities focus on developing new technologies, with an emphasis on quantum communication, quantum cybersecurity, and new computing techniques. Our researchers have been working hard to develop methods and tools used in ultra-precision time and frequency measurements, as well as quantum random number generators.
The dynamic growth of ICTQT has led to the opening of the first and only quantum-focused doctoral school in Poland. Training will be conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Optics and Quantum Information of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, a foreign partner institution of ICTQT and one of the best centres in this field globally. The school will be headed by Professor Łukasz Rudnicki, group leader at ICTQT.
We are proud of the University of Gdańsk’s commitment to the development of quantum technologies, which will shape the future of humanity. We invite all interested students to apply to this exciting new program and be a part of the future of quantum technologies! Stay tuned for more updates!
Creation of the Quantum Information Theory Doctoral School was announced during celebrations of 53rd University of Gdańsk anniversary. Rector’s speech transcript is available here.
